Mom was about to give her cold son an elderberry tea. An old man peeped in who always had a fairy tale at his disposal. When a fairy tale suddenly "came" to the old man, elderberry branches appeared from under the lid of the kettle, and from them a tender old woman - Elderberry mother (Dryad) smiled. The old man told about the elderberry bush in the corner of the courtyard in the New settlement, under which the old sailor and his wife remember youth. When the boy objected that this was not a fairy tale, Mother replied that the fairy tale would begin now, for the most wonderful fairy tales sprouted from reality. She took the boy's hand and they found themselves in a gazebo, and Mother turned into a pretty girl.
Sitting on a reed with a horse's head, the children played on the lawn, then in the garden, grown from a flower from a girl’s wreath, they flew over Denmark at all times of the year. The boy became a youth, a sailor, but he carried with him a flower presented by a girl. Many years later, he was sitting with his old wife in the garden under the elderberry, and the Elderberry mother took out two flowers from her wreath and laid them on her head like crowns, and she also called her real name - Remembrance. She nodded affectionately to the old people, and they sat in golden crowns, their eyes closed, and ... The boy was lying in bed, and the old man was about to leave.
