(365 words) Charity is compassion, understanding for another person. This is a feeling that can defeat resentment. A merciful person can forgive all mistakes. It happens that it’s very difficult for people to show mercy, and in us there is a struggle between resentment and forgiveness. Not everyone is able to forgive the pain inflicted and accept all the mistakes. Therefore, mercy is the most important factor in a given situation. And then the question arises: "Is it possible to remain merciful in the war?".
For each of us, war is the most terrible and difficult test, but there are heroes who, despite all difficulties and defeats, are able to remain merciful even in war. Firstly, I want to recall the novel of L.N. Tolstoy “War and Peace”. In the episode, after the decisive battle between the Russian and French army under the command of Napoleon and Kutuzov and the occupation of Moscow, Napoleon betrays his army and gives it to the enemy in order to save his own life. But Kutuzov, realizing that everyone has the right to life and everyone in this world is priceless, shows mercy. Despite the complexity and situation of that time, we see that this hero is able to remain merciful. He understands that the French acted on the orders of their leader and could not go against his will. We see that many Russians in the war are united not only by a feeling of anger and hatred, but also by a sense of understanding and compassion for their enemy.
Secondly, one can give an example of a novel by V.A. Zakrutkina “The Mother of Man”, in which the main character survived the most terrible losses of her life, losing her husband and son. It would seem that after such consequences there is no longer room for compassion and mercy in the heart, but this woman, having met a German boy in the cellar, did not mistake him for the enemy. The heroine tried to find a real person in him and did not kill, but, on the contrary, saved his life and helped her out. Even after such sad events, in the heart of Mary there is a place for mercy and understanding for other people.
Thus, from the foregoing, we can conclude that you can remain merciful even without war. It all depends on the person and his attitude to those around him. Using two works as an example, we see that it is necessary to value the life of each person and to show their kindness. Even in the most difficult situations, you need to remain human. The more merciful people there are in the world, the fewer wars and disasters on the planet.
