They simply do not understand why this is necessary, because in their view adults are people who are hopelessly behind the times. However, I am convinced that it was past generations that lifted us to the height of progress where we are now, so they are worthy of respect. To prove my case, I will give literary examples.
In K. Paustovsky’s story “Telegram”, the heroine left for work in a big city, leaving her mother in the village. The old woman was not offended by the fact that her daughter wrote so little, she did not want to distract her girl from work. But then came the moment when there was no strength to endure. She felt death approaching and cabled Nastya to come to say goodbye. But the heroine was so busy that she did not pay attention to the message. Well, what could happen urgently to a grandmother in a village? Another thing is urban life, work, career, so there is nothing to be distracted by trifles. That was probably what Nastya reasoned until she came to visit her mother, but it was too late: Katerina Petrovna died. The daughter imagined that she had become an adult and independent herself, but after all, what she had achieved was the result of the efforts of her mother. Therefore, we must respect old age as parents once respected our childhood. They were in a hurry to invest as much as possible in our upbringing, because the childhood is fleeting. So we are obliged to spend as much time with the elderly as possible in order to have time to adopt their experience and thank them for sleepless nights spent at the cradle.
In Honore de Balzac's novel Father Gorio, the protagonist worked all his life to provide his daughters with a decent future. He was a simple pasta producer, but he accumulated capital and spent it, giving his children a rich dowry. As a result, Dolphin and Anastazi married noble people from high society only thanks to the generosity of their father. But after gorgeous weddings, women began to be shy of their origin. Therefore, they decided to delete their father from life. The heroines turned to him only in case of acute financial need and completely ruined him. He died in solitude and poverty. Unfortunately, some people tend to be recorded, and they forget that they owe their entire property to their parents. As a result, proud women refuse to respect fathers and mothers, and when they realize that they are wrong, it is already too late.
Without the older generation, we and all that we consider to be would not have been. Therefore, we are obliged to pay respect to the elders, because once they educated us and taught us what we can do. All our achievements are impossible without their foundation on which we build new buildings. In addition, we have no chance of a mistake, because the days of our old people are numbered, and a lack of respect can only reduce them. And when we understand and repent of it, they will no longer be alive.
