(339 words) Despite the fact that since the writing of the novel-epic L.N. Tolstoy's “War and Peace” has passed a lot of time, every year there are more and more admirers of this work. And this is not surprising, because the writer helps us survive all the emotions and feelings along with his heroes. So, for example, we are growing up and changing for the better with Pierre Bezukhov. I consider this hero to be my favorite in Tolstoy’s novel.
Acquaintance with Pierre takes place in the salon of A.P. Scherer. It is here that we first see the awkward, big, scattered and dreamy Bezukhov. Nobody paid due attention to him, and Anna Pavlovna was generally afraid for her reputation because of the words of the hero. Pierre openly expressed his opinion about Napoleon and the war as a whole. Only his loyal friend, Andrei Bolkonsky, was genuinely happy about the arrival of Bezukhov.
Falling in love, and then marrying Ellen Kuragina also did not bring the hero a sense of happiness and peace. Pierre only realized that he was mistaken in choosing an external beauty, not an internal one. These relationships destroyed the emotional integrity of the young man. The hero is in despair, so he decides to go headlong into Freemasonry. But even this did not bring Pierre the pleasure of life and comfort. All his ideals and values were unacceptable in a Masonic environment.
For all this time Bezukhov has changed very much. From a weak and soft-bodied youth, he transformed into a strong and courageous nobleman. Thanks to his acquaintance with Plato Karataev, the hero realized his true happiness. He finally understood what life consists of. After long and difficult trials, Pierre became what he should be. His moral wanderings ended on a happy note.
It is difficult to perceive the whole image of Bezukhov without Andrei Bolkonsky and Natasha Rostova. It is these heroes that help Pierre to fully understand. Friendship with Bolkonsky experienced many difficulties, but they only proved that true friends will always be together. And Natasha Rostova with her love made Pierre Bezukhov the happiest person in the world.
It seems to me that Leo Tolstoy himself loved his hero very much. We see his sympathy in Pierre's description and in the subsequent narration. Bezukhov helps us understand that it is never too late to change our destiny. It is only important to remember that “as long as there is life, there is happiness”!
